Malbec’s inherent weakness is that it can overcrop and become diluted and flabby. But our steep northeast-facing slope and low cropping produces a “Black Moon” Malbec that is thoroughbred. Drinking Luna Negra is like doing an energetic salsa with a Cuban beauty queen.

The 2008 Luna Negra Malbec is matured in 50% new French and 50% American oak. There is an attractive herbaceous nose with a touch of vanilla pod, then hints of lavender and violets with very fine definition. Fine tannins on the entry, very good acidity, great focus and poise with bilberry and briary towards the finish with a slight gravelly notes. Lovely.
